Import files from Google Drive

On the Pro plan, open Add asset, connect Google Drive from Add new source, then click Open Google Drive and choose videos, images, or PDFs to add them to the canvas.

Import from Google Drive

You can bring videos, images, and PDFs from your Google Drive into a room. Pactto copies each file into the room, so the files stay even if you disconnect Google Drive later. You need Can edit access (or be the room owner). Google Drive is part of the Pro plan.

Connect Google Drive (first time only)

  1. Click Add asset in the toolbar, or press 1.
  2. In the sidebar of the Add assets dialog, click Add new source.
  3. Click Google Drive. A Google sign-in window opens, and a spinner shows next to the name while you connect.
  4. Sign in and allow access.
  5. Google Drive now appears in the sidebar. The connection is saved to your account, so it is still there next time you sign in.

If your plan does not include integrations, Google Drive shows a Pro label, and clicking it opens the plan options instead of connecting. If nothing opens when you click it, your browser may be blocking pop-up windows. Allow pop-ups for Pactto and try again.

Choose files

  1. Open Add asset (or press 1) and select Google Drive in the sidebar.
  2. Click Open Google Drive.
  3. In the Google window, select one or more videos, images, or PDFs and confirm.
  4. The button shows "Importing..." (or "Importing 2 of 5..." for several files). When the import finishes, the files appear on the canvas.

You can close the dialog while files import. The import continues and its progress moves to a message at the bottom of the screen. When you import two or more files, they are laid out in a grid and selected together.

Disconnect Google Drive

  1. Open Add asset and find Google Drive in the sidebar.
  2. Click the disconnect icon next to its name.
  3. In Disconnect Google Drive?, click Disconnect.

Files you already imported stay in the room. Google Drive returns to the Add new source list so you can connect it again later.

If something goes wrong

  • "Google Drive is part of the Pro plan": you connected Google Drive before your plan changed. The connection is kept, but you need the Pro plan to browse it again. Click Upgrade to Pro if you see the button.
  • "Reconnect Google Drive to import files.": your Google connection has expired. Disconnect Google Drive and connect it again.
  • "Failed to import "file name". Please try again.": that file could not be imported (for example, it is too large, a type that is not supported, or the download failed). The other files are still imported.
  • "Could not open Google Drive. Please try again.": the Google window did not open. Check your pop-up blocker and try again.

Good to know

  • Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides cannot be imported. Only videos, images, and PDFs.
  • You can also use the Google Drive connection with Replace image. The Google window then lets you choose only one image.
