Replace an image on the canvas
Select the image, click Replace image in its title bar, and choose a new image from your computer, Google Drive, or Frame.io; the frame keeps its size and position.
Replace an image
Replacing an image changes the picture but leaves the item where it is, with the same size, rotation, layer order, and board. No new item is created. You need Can edit access (or be the room owner).
Steps
- Click the image on the canvas to select it.
- In the title bar above the image, click Replace image.
- The Replace image dialog opens. Choose one image from any source:
- Local drive: drag an image into the dialog, or click Select an image from your device.
- Google Drive: click Open Google Drive and choose one image.
- Adobe Frame.io: browse to an image, select it, and click Replace.
- The new image appears right away. An image from Google Drive appears once it has loaded. While the upload finishes, the button reads Replacing image….
How the new image fits
- The frame stays the same size. The new image is scaled to fill it and centered, and any part that falls outside is hidden, not deleted.
- Double-click the image to adjust the crop and show the hidden parts.
- A circular crop stays circular, and flips are kept.
- Cmd+Z (Mac) or Ctrl+Z (Windows) undoes the replacement in one step.
If something goes wrong
- "Please select a single image.": you dropped more than one file. Choose only one.
- "Supported types: Images" or "Please choose an image file.": the file is not an image.
- "Failed to replace image. Please try again.": the upload failed and the previous image is restored.
- If the person replacing the image closes the tab before the upload finishes, the image goes back to the previous one.
Good to know
- Replace image only appears for images, not for videos or PDFs. It is hidden in Focus Mode.
- Google Drive and Frame.io in this dialog need the Pro plan, like regular imports.
- The title bar also has Crop image for cropping without replacing (not on phone-sized screens).
