Zoom in, zoom out and move around the canvas
Use the Zoom - and Zoom + buttons, the zoom menu (click the percentage) or Shift + 1 to fit everything on screen, pan with the Pan tool (H), a trackpad or Space + drag, and use the minimap in the bottom-left corner to jump to any area.
Get around the canvas
The canvas is larger than your screen. You can zoom and move the view at any time, and doing so only changes your own view, not anyone else's.
When you open a room, the view is set so that all the content fits on your screen, at no more than 100% zoom. An empty room opens at 100%.
Zoom
The zoom bar is in the bottom-left corner, under the minimap.
- Click Zoom - or Zoom + to zoom out or in.
- Click the percentage between them to open the zoom menu (Zoom options):
- Zoom to 1% (Shift + 0)
- Zoom to fit (Shift + 1): fits all the content on your screen. Use this when you feel lost.
- Zoom to selection (Shift + 2): fits the items you have selected.
- Zoom to 100% (Shift + 3)
- Or press Cmd/Ctrl + = (or +) to zoom in and Cmd/Ctrl + - to zoom out.
- On a trackpad, pinch to zoom.
You can zoom out as far as 1%.
Move the view (pan)
- Click Pan in the toolbar or press H, then drag the canvas. Pan stays active until you pick another tool; press V to go back to Select.
- On a trackpad, scroll with two fingers.
- Hold Space and drag.
Panning works even when your pointer is over a file's name bar or a formatting bar on the canvas.
Use the minimap
The small map above the zoom bar shows the whole canvas. Click or drag in it to jump to that area.
Who can do this
Everyone in the room, whatever their role.
Good to know:
- The minimap and zoom bar are hidden on phones (screens under 640 pixels wide), in focus mode, and in conversation mode. On phones you can still pinch to zoom.
- The Pan button is hidden on phones and tablets.
- The Help & support button sits next to the zoom bar.
- When you add new files, the view moves to show them (see asset-placement-and-size).
- If someone is spotlighting, your view follows theirs (see present).
