Connection quality warnings during a meeting
Pactto watches your connection and warns you with "Your connection is unstable" or "Your connection is very poor" when it stays bad for 30 seconds, and with a separate message when your network blocks your camera and mic.
Connection quality warnings
During a meeting, Pactto keeps checking the quality of your own connection. When it stays bad, you get a warning so you know why others may not see or hear you well.
"Your connection is unstable"
Your connection has been weak for at least 30 seconds. Audio and video may stutter.
- Move closer to your Wi-Fi router or use a wired connection.
- Close other apps or tabs that use a lot of bandwidth (uploads, video streaming).
- Turn off your camera to save bandwidth if the call keeps stuttering.
"Your connection is very poor. Audio and video may drop"
The same, but worse. Try the steps above. If it does not get better, leave and rejoin the room, or switch networks.
The warning goes away when your connection recovers. You can close it; it only comes back if the connection gets worse than when you closed it. You do not get these warnings while you are alone in the room with your camera off and microphone muted.
"Your network is blocking your camera and mic"
The full message reads Your network is blocking your camera and mic. Others can't see or hear you. Try a different network or turn off your VPN.
This means your network (often a company firewall or a VPN) stops your camera and audio from reaching the meeting, even though the room itself loads.
- Turn off your VPN, or switch to another network (for example, a phone hotspot).
- Reload the room if the message does not go away on its own.
While this happens:
- Your own tile shows a red badge: Your camera and mic are not reaching others.
- Other people see a red badge on your tile: Can't connect camera and mic. Their network is blocking it. So they know you are not just muted.
- You can still use the canvas and the chat.
Good to know
- These warnings are only about your own connection. Someone else's bad connection does not trigger them on your screen.
- A Your audio is not reaching other participants badge on your tile means your audio specifically stopped getting through. Check your microphone or pick another one in Device settings.
