Comment on a video frame, a video range, or a PDF page

With the Comment tool on, click a video's frame or timeline for a frame comment, drag along the timeline for a time range, or click a PDF to comment on the page you are viewing.

Comment on a single video frame

  1. Pause the video on the frame you want (or play to it).
  2. Click Comment in the toolbar or press K.
  3. Click on the video picture, or click a point on the strip below the video's timeline.
  4. Type your comment and press Enter.

The comment shows the exact frame as a timecode chip (hours:minutes:seconds:frames, for example 00:01:12:08). Its avatar appears on the strip under the timeline at that point.

Comment on a range of a video

  1. Turn on the Comment tool (K) with the video visible.
  2. Drag along the strip below the timeline from the start to the end of the part you want. The video scrubs as you drag. The hint Drag to create a range appears at the bottom of the video.
  3. Type your comment and press Enter.

The chip shows the range as start - end. On the timeline, the range appears as your avatar at the start and a line to the end. Open the comment to drag its handles and adjust the start or end.

Find and play video comments

  • Click an avatar on the timeline strip, or a comment pin, to jump the video to that frame (or to the start of the range) and open the comment.
  • A comment pin on the video picture only shows while playback is on its frame or inside its range.
  • When several people comment on the same frame, their avatars are grouped. Click the group to open the comments side by side.

Comment on a PDF page

  1. Go to the page you want in the PDF.
  2. Turn on the Comment tool (K) and click on the PDF.
  3. Type your comment and press Enter.

The comment shows a Page N chip. Its pin only shows while the PDF is on that page. Clicking the comment in the Comments panel turns the PDF to that page.

Good to know

  • You can remove the timecode or page chip before posting if you want a general comment on the item instead.
  • Mentions, attachments, emoji, flags, and voice notes work the same on video and PDF comments.
  • A drawing added with Annotation on a video comment is tied to that frame.
  • Who can comment: the room owner and people with Can edit or Can review access.
