Use boards and presentations on a phone
On a phone the canvas is view-first: you can pan, select, use the laser, comment, open items in focus mode, play videos and follow a presenter, but you cannot draw boards, add assets, share your screen or start Spotlight.
How rooms work on a phone
On a narrow screen (less than 640 pixels wide, which covers most phones held upright) the room shows a simpler, view-first canvas. You can look around, review and comment, but you cannot drag, resize or rotate items with your finger. Tablets and computers keep the full experience.
The toolbar has four buttons: Pan (move around the canvas), Select, Laser and Comment. Pinch to zoom the canvas.
What you can do
- Select any item to see its title and status, and tap a video to play it (see Play videos and keep them in sync).
- Open an item or a board in focus mode. The item's name appears in the header with a button to exit focus mode.
- Follow a presenter: when someone starts Spotlight, tap Follow. On a phone the bar at the bottom shows only the button, for example Stop following {name}.
- Present a board, if you have Can edit access: select the board and tap the play button (Enter presentation mode). The slide controls sit above the chat and assistant buttons so they stay reachable. Use the exit button in the header to stop.
- Comment, if your access allows it.
Editing with the long-press menu
If you have Can edit access, press and hold to open the menu. From there you can use Convert to Board, Tidy up, Group, Ungroup, Lock, Duplicate, Paste, Cut and Delete, among others.
Not available on a phone
- Drawing a new board with the Board tool, and dragging items into a board.
- Add asset and screen sharing.
- Starting Spotlight (Spotlight me). Start it from a computer.
- The zoom buttons and minimap (pinch instead) and the comments side panel.
Good to know
- There is no Escape key on a phone, so use the exit button in the header to leave focus mode or a presentation.
- If you need the full editing tools, open the room on a computer or tablet.
