Reduce background noise from your microphone

Pactto automatically filters background noise such as typing, fans, and barking out of your microphone; there is nothing to turn on, and it cannot be turned off.

Background noise reduction

Pactto cleans up your microphone before your voice reaches the meeting. Noises like typing, trackpad clicks, fans, dogs, construction, or café chatter are reduced, so others mainly hear your voice.

How it works

  • It is always on for everyone. There is no setting to turn it on or off.
  • It works on your side: the audio you send is already cleaned up, so other participants do not need to do anything.
  • Your browser's own noise suppression and echo cancellation are also used, and they take over if the extra filtering is not available on your device.
  • On phones and slower computers, Pactto uses a lighter version of the filter. If your device struggles to keep up, Pactto steps down to a lighter filter automatically instead of dropping your audio.

Good to know

  • Because the filter is tuned for speech, singing or playing an instrument into your microphone may not sound natural. There is currently no way to switch the filter off.
  • For the best results, use a headset, or keep your computer's built-in microphone away from your keyboard.
  • Changing your microphone in Device settings keeps the filter on for the new microphone.
