Add or edit a link in text or a sticky note

Select the text (or sticky note), click the Link button in its formatting bar, type or paste the URL, and press Enter; clear the URL and press Enter to remove the link.

Add a link to text

You can turn words in a text item, a sticky note, a rectangle or circle with text, or a Pactto doc into a clickable link.

Add a link

  1. Select the text item, sticky note, rectangle, or circle. In a Pactto doc, place your cursor in the text.
  2. Optional: highlight the words you want to link. If nothing is highlighted, the whole text is linked.
  3. In the formatting bar, click Link.
  4. In the Type or paste URL box, enter the address. You can leave out "https://"; Pactto adds it.
  5. Press Enter to apply. Press Escape or click elsewhere to cancel.

Edit or remove a link

  1. Select the linked text and click Link again. The box shows the current address.
  2. To change it, type the new address and press Enter.
  3. To remove it, delete the address so the box is empty and press Enter. The text stays; only the link is removed.

You can also change the linked words by typing over them; the link stays on the text.

Open a link

Click the linked text on the canvas (with the select tool) to open it in a new tab. Dragging the item by its linked text moves it without opening the link.

Good to know

  • Only web links (http and https) open from the canvas.
  • Pasting a web address on the canvas creates a linked text item for you. See Add a web link to the canvas.
  • When several items are selected, the Link button is not shown.
