# "Update required" message

> When Pactto shows Update required, your browser is running an old version of the app; let it reload (or click Update now), and if that does not work, close every Pactto tab and open the app again.

## Update required

Pactto updates often. If your browser tab is still running an older version that no longer works with the server, Pactto asks you to update so the meeting keeps working for everyone.

### During a meeting

1. A message titled **Update required** appears with a countdown: **Pactto will reload in** a number of seconds.
2. Click **Update now** to reload right away, or wait for the countdown. The message cannot be closed.
3. The room reloads on the new version. Your canvas work is saved on the server and is not lost.

### When opening a room

If the room cannot open because your version is too old, you see **Update required** with **This version of Pactto is no longer supported, and reloading did not pick up the new one.**

1. Close every Pactto tab and window.
2. Open Pactto again.
3. If it keeps happening, contact support and mention the version numbers shown on the page (**Loaded** ... **requires** ...).

### "This room is not available yet"

This means your app is newer than the server for this room. Reloading will not help. Try again in a few minutes.

### Good to know

- Pactto limits automatic reloads. If a reload does not fix it, you see the "close every Pactto tab" instructions instead of another countdown.
