# Keyboard shortcuts during a meeting

> Press C to toggle your camera, M to toggle your microphone, S to share or stop sharing your screen, X to spotlight yourself, and 1 to add an asset.

## Meeting shortcuts

These single-key shortcuts work inside a room. They do not fire while you are typing in a text field, such as the chat box or a room title.

| Key | What it does |
|---|---|
| **C** | Turn your camera on or off |
| **M** | Mute or unmute your microphone |
| **S** | Start or stop sharing your screen |
| **X** | Spotlight yourself, or stop spotlighting (see [Present with Spotlight](https://www.pactto.com/help/present.md)) |
| **1** | Add an asset, if you can edit the room (see [Add assets](https://www.pactto.com/help/add-assets.md)) |

### In the chat

| Key | What it does |
|---|---|
| **Enter** | Send the message |
| **Shift+Enter** | New line |
| **Escape** | Close the chat panel, or cancel editing a message |

### Good to know

- **C** does nothing if no camera is detected, and **M** does nothing if no microphone is detected.
- The button tooltips show the shortcut, for example **Hide camera – C** and **Mute mic – M**.
- Shortcuts keep working even when a button has moved into a menu on a narrow window.
- Canvas drawing tools have their own shortcuts.
