# Download files from the canvas, one at a time or all at once

> Select a file and click Download in its title bar, or right-click a selection, a board, or the empty canvas to download many images, videos, and PDFs at once.

## Download original files

You can download the original images, videos, and PDFs from a room, one by one or in bulk. You need **Can edit** access (or be the room owner). People with **Can review** or **Can view** access do not see download options.

### One file

Select the image, video, or PDF and click **Download** in its title bar. You can also right-click it and choose **Download image**, **Download video**, or **Download PDF**.

### Several selected files

1. Select the files (drag a box around them, or Shift+click).
2. Right-click the selection and choose the download item. It is labeled for what you selected, for example **Download 3 images**, **Download 2 videos**, or **Download assets** for a mix.

### Everything in a board

Select one or more boards, right-click, and choose **Download all assets**. This includes files inside boards nested in the board.

### Everything on the canvas

1. Make sure nothing is selected, then right-click an empty area of the canvas.
2. Choose **Download...**, then **All images on canvas (.zip)** or **All videos on canvas**.

## How the files arrive

- Images and PDFs are packed into a single ZIP file, for example "selected-images.zip", "(board name)-assets.zip", or "canvas-images.zip".
- Videos are downloaded one by one, not zipped. Pactto shows "Downloading 3 videos…". Your browser may ask you to allow multiple downloads.
- If two files have the same name, the second one gets a number, for example "photo (2).png".

## If something goes wrong

- "Downloaded 8 images; 2 skipped.": some files could not be fetched. The rest are in the ZIP.
- "Couldn't download the images." (or "files"): none of the files could be fetched. Try again.
- "Couldn't build the ZIP. Try fewer images or download them individually.": the selection is too large for your browser to pack. Select fewer files.
