# Create a Pactto account

> Go to the Register page, sign up with Google or with your name, email and a password, confirm the code Pactto emails you, and you land in your rooms list with a welcome room ready.

## Sign up for Pactto

You need a Pactto account to create rooms and to join rooms as a member. You can sign up with a Google account or with an email address and password.

### Sign up with Google

1. Open the Register page (live.pactto.com/register).
2. Click **Continue with Google** and pick your Google account.
3. Pactto creates your account and takes you to **Your Rooms**.

If you already have a Pactto account with that Google address, you are simply signed in.

### Sign up with email

1. Open the Register page.
2. Fill in **Full name**, **Email address** and **Password**.
3. Your password must meet all five rules shown under the field: **At least 8 characters**, **One uppercase letter**, **One lowercase letter**, **One number** and **One special character**. The list disappears once the password is valid.
4. Click **Continue with Email**. Pactto emails you a verification code.
5. On the **Verify your email.** screen, enter the code in **Enter the code** and click **Verify email**.
6. Pactto shows **Setting up your account…** while it creates your account, prepares your profile and adds a welcome room.
7. You land on **Your Rooms**. The **Device settings** panel opens so you can check your camera and microphone. This step is optional: close it to go straight to your rooms.

### After sign-up

- If you signed up from a room invitation or a room link, Pactto takes you to that room instead of the rooms list, and no welcome room is created.
- Otherwise a welcome room appears in **Your Rooms**, ready for you to open.

### If something goes wrong

- **"This email is already registered. Log in or reset your password below."**: you already have an account. Use **Log in.** or **Reset it.** under the form.
- **The code did not arrive**: on the code screen click **Send me a new code**. Check your spam folder.
- **"That link is out of date. Finish here and we'll email you a verification code."**: you opened an older invitation link. Complete the form and confirm the code.
- **"Your sign up was never finished, so there's no password to reset yet."**: you started signing up earlier but never confirmed the code. Submit the form again to get a new code.

## Good to know

- Pactto stores email addresses in lowercase, so capital letters in your email do not create a second account.
- If someone invited you by email or you joined a room as a guest, use the same email on the Register page. Pactto emails you a code and you choose your password, which turns that access into a full account.
- Already have an account? Use **Log in.** at the bottom of the Register page.
