# Create a room

> On the Your rooms page, click Create new room (or Create and join new room), type a room name, and confirm.

## Create a new room

A room is where your meetings happen. Each room keeps its canvas, chat, and members, so you can come back to it later. You create rooms from the **Your rooms** page, which is the first page you see after you log in.

### Create a room and stay on the list

1. Go to **Your rooms**.
2. Click **Create new room**.
3. In **Room name**, type a name (the field says **Enter room name**).
4. Click **Create room** (or press Enter).
5. A **Room created** message confirms it. Click **Continue**. The new room now appears in your list.

### Create a room and go straight in

1. On **Your rooms**, click **Create and join new room**.
2. Type the **Room name**.
3. Click **Create and join**. Pactto creates the room and opens it.

You become the room's owner and are added to it, so it shows up in your list right away.

### If something goes wrong

- **Room title is required**: the name field was empty. Type a name and try again.
- If you already own as many rooms as your plan allows, the room is not created and Pactto tells you that you reached the limit. Depending on your account, clicking **Create new room** may open your plan options instead. See [Plans and limits](https://www.pactto.com/help/plans-and-limits.md).
- Any other error from the server is shown in the dialog. If your session expired, Pactto sends you to the login page.

### Good to know

- If you have no rooms yet, the list shows **No rooms yet** with a short prompt to create one.
- You can rename the room or change its logo later. See [Find, rename, and delete rooms](https://www.pactto.com/help/find-and-manage-rooms.md).
- To bring other people in, use **Share** inside the room or the **+** (**Add participant**) button in the room list. See [Invite people](https://www.pactto.com/help/invite-people.md).
