# Change your name and photo

> Inside a room, open Device settings (the arrow next to the microphone button) to change your Display name and upload a profile image; outside a room, use Personal information in the Account menu.

## Two places to change them

You can change your name and photo without leaving a room. Both places update the same profile, so other people see the change in rooms, member lists, and chat.

## Inside a room

1. Click **Device options**, the small arrow right next to the microphone button at the top right of the room. This opens **Device settings**.
2. To change your name, edit **Display name**.
3. To change your photo, click **Upload profile image** on the camera preview at the top of the panel, pick an image, drag and zoom it in **Adjust your avatar**, and click **Save**.
4. Click **Save** at the bottom of **Device settings**.

## From your rooms list

1. On **Your rooms**, click your avatar in the top-right corner to open the **Account menu**.
2. Click **Personal information**.
3. Edit **Name** and click **Save changes**, or under **Profile photo** click **Upload new**, adjust the crop, and click **Save**.

You can also open **Device settings** from **Your rooms** (the **Device settings** button at the top right) and change your name and photo there.

## Good to know

- Your email address cannot be changed.
- Pactto accepts JPEG, PNG, SVG, and HEIC images for your photo.
- If you see **Your profile does not allow changing your name.** or **Your profile does not allow changing your photo.**, your account cannot change it.
- Guests who are not logged in are asked for a name when they join, and cannot upload a photo.
