# Allow camera and microphone access

> When Pactto asks, click Use camera and microphone and accept the browser prompt; if you blocked access, click Allow camera and microphone or follow Show manual steps, then reload.

## Give Pactto access to your camera and microphone

Pactto rooms are live, so others can see and hear you. Your browser asks for permission the first time Pactto uses your camera and microphone. You can turn both off at any time.

1. When Pactto shows **Set up your camera and microphone**, click **Use camera and microphone**.
2. Your browser asks for permission. Click **Allow**.
3. Pick your devices. On **Your Rooms**, click **Device settings** to choose your **Camera**, **Microphone** and **Speakers**, then click **Save**. On a room's join screen, use the lists under the camera preview.

If you prefer not to share now, click **Continue without camera and microphone**. You can still view and listen.

## If you blocked access before

If you once clicked **Block** in the browser prompt, Pactto shows **Pactto is blocked from using your camera and microphone**.

1. Click **Allow camera and microphone** if the button is shown. In supported browsers this fixes it in one click.
2. Otherwise click **Show manual steps** and follow the steps for your browser (usually through the camera icon or site settings next to the address bar).
3. Click **Try again**. If Pactto still says **Still blocked. Finish the steps above, then reload the page.**, finish the steps and click **Reload page**.

On the join screen you may also see **"You've blocked camera access. Go to your browser settings and allow it again."** (or the same for the microphone). Allow access in your browser's site settings for Pactto, then reload.

## If no device is found

- **"No camera or microphone detected"**: connect a camera or microphone and click **Try again**, or click **Continue without devices** to join as an observer (view and listen only).
- **"Audio output selection is not supported in this browser"**: your browser always uses the system's default speakers. Change the output device in your computer's sound settings.

## Good to know

- Device choices made in **Device settings** apply to all your rooms ("Changes apply instantly across all your rooms").
- On the join screen, **Mirror camera** (shown once the camera is allowed) flips your camera image.
- Inside a room, use the camera and microphone buttons in the top bar: **C** shows or hides your camera and **M** mutes or unmutes your microphone.
