# Supported browsers and devices

> Pactto runs in the browser; use Chrome or Edge 105+, Firefox 121+, Safari 16.4+, Opera 91+ or Samsung Internet 20+, opened directly rather than inside another app.

## What you need

Pactto runs in a web browser. There is nothing to install.

Minimum operating systems: macOS 10.15, Windows 10, iOS and iPadOS 16.4, Android 7.0.

Your browser also needs camera, microphone and real-time video support (WebRTC), which all the browsers above provide.

## If your browser is not supported

Before a room or its join screen loads, Pactto checks your browser. If it does not meet the requirements, Pactto shows a page instead of the room. That page shows the browser and operating system it detected, the minimum version needed, and download links for compatible browsers (Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox, plus Microsoft Edge on Windows).

Common causes:

- **Outdated browser**: update it, or install one of the browsers above.
- **Outdated operating system**: on iPhone and iPad, update iOS in Settings > General > Software Update.
- **A browser inside another app**: links opened inside apps such as email or messaging apps use an embedded browser that Pactto does not support. Open the link in your device's normal browser.

If your browser works but is below the recommended version (for example Firefox older than 127), Pactto lets you in and shows a warning that some features may not work, such as pasting images onto the canvas.

## Phones and tablets

- On a phone-sized screen, the canvas is view-focused: a smaller toolbar lets you pan, select, use the laser pointer and comment. You can select items and play videos, but you cannot drag, resize or rotate them.
- PDF and website items are not shown on phones. You see **"PDF is not available on smartphones. Use a tablet or desktop to view this content."** (or **Website**).
- Tablets such as iPad use the full experience.

## Updates

Pactto updates itself. When a new version is available, it loads the next time you open a page or reload. You do not need to clear your cache.
