## Account and access

## Rooms and meetings

- [Arrange camera tiles and use conversation mode](https://www.pactto.com/help/camera-tiles-and-conversation-mode.md): Camera tiles sit in a row at the top of the canvas; use the Room menu to hide or reset them, drag a tile to float it, and click the Conversation mode button to hide the canvas and show large cameras for everyone.

- [Choose your camera, microphone, and speakers](https://www.pactto.com/help/device-settings.md): Open Device settings on Your rooms, or Device options next to the microphone button inside a room, pick your devices, and click Save.
- [Connection quality warnings during a meeting](https://www.pactto.com/help/connection-quality-warnings.md): Pactto watches your connection and warns you with "Your connection is unstable" or "Your connection is very poor" when it stays bad for 30 seconds, and with a separate message when your network blocks your camera and mic.

- [Find, rename, and delete rooms](https://www.pactto.com/help/find-and-manage-rooms.md): Use the Your rooms list to search and sort rooms and see who is in each one; use the three-dot Room actions menu to rename a room, and to delete it if you are the owner.
- [Fix connection problems in a meeting](https://www.pactto.com/help/connection-problems.md): Pactto reconnects on its own after short drops and shows Reconnecting...; if it cannot, it asks you to reload with Reload room or Reconnect, and your canvas work is kept.
- [How many people can join a room](https://www.pactto.com/help/room-capacity.md): Up to 20 people can be in a room at the same time, and a room can have up to 99 members with access.
- [Join a meeting in a room](https://www.pactto.com/help/join-a-meeting.md): Click Join room next to the room in Your rooms (or open the room link); if you are not yet a member, set up your devices and click Request to join, then wait for the host to admit you.
- [Join a room and admit people from the waiting room](https://www.pactto.com/help/waiting-room.md): Open the room link, set up your camera, and click Join room (members) or Request to join (everyone else); the owner or an editor admits waiting people with Admit or Declines them.
- [Keyboard shortcuts during a meeting](https://www.pactto.com/help/meeting-keyboard-shortcuts.md): Press C to toggle your camera, M to toggle your microphone, S to share or stop sharing your screen, X to spotlight yourself, and 1 to add an asset.
- [Leave a meeting](https://www.pactto.com/help/leave-a-room.md): Click the Leave room button at the far top left of the room and confirm with Leave room; you keep access to the room and everything in it stays saved.
- [Mute other participants](https://www.pactto.com/help/mute-other-participants.md): If you are the room owner or an editor, open Room members from the avatars at the top right and click Mute next to a person or Mute all, or click the microphone badge on someone's camera tile.
- [Reduce background noise from your microphone](https://www.pactto.com/help/background-noise-reduction.md): Pactto automatically filters background noise such as typing, fans, and barking out of your microphone; there is nothing to turn on, and it cannot be turned off.
- [Share your screen](https://www.pactto.com/help/share-your-screen.md): Click Share screen at the top right of the room (or press S), pick what to share in your browser, and your screen appears on the canvas for everyone; others can follow it and zoom in.
- [Turn your camera and microphone on or off](https://www.pactto.com/help/camera-and-microphone.md): Use the camera and microphone buttons at the top right of the room, or press C for camera and M for microphone.
- ["Update required" message](https://www.pactto.com/help/update-required.md): When Pactto shows Update required, your browser is running an old version of the app; let it reload (or click Update now), and if that does not work, close every Pactto tab and open the app again.
- [Why can't I open this room?](https://www.pactto.com/help/room-unavailable.md): If a room was deleted, you lack access, or something failed, Pactto shows a page that says which one and offers a way out; ask the owner for an invitation if you lack access.

## Adding content

- [Add a table to the canvas](https://www.pactto.com/help/create-table.md): Click Table in the toolbar or press Y to add a table with Description, Status, Assignee, Due date, Priority, and Notes columns that you can edit, extend, reorder, and download as a spreadsheet.
- [Add a web link to the canvas](https://www.pactto.com/help/add-web-link.md): Copy a web address and paste it on the canvas with Cmd+V or Ctrl+V; it becomes a clickable link that opens in a new tab.
- [Add images, videos, PDFs, and other content to a room](https://www.pactto.com/help/add-assets.md): Click Add asset in the toolbar (or press 1) to upload from your computer, Google Drive, or Adobe Frame.io; you can also drag files onto the canvas, paste them, paste links, or create a Pactto doc or a table.
- [Create a Pactto doc for shared notes](https://www.pactto.com/help/create-pactto-doc.md): Click Doc in the toolbar or press D to add a document to the canvas that everyone in the room can write in at the same time.
- [Fix an upload that failed or a file that will not load](https://www.pactto.com/help/fix-failed-uploads.md): If an item says "Upload didn't finish", the person who uploaded it can click Re-upload; if it says "Couldn't load file", click Retry.
- [Replace an image on the canvas](https://www.pactto.com/help/replace-image.md): Select the image, click Replace image in its title bar, and choose a new image from your computer, Google Drive, or Frame.io; the frame keeps its size and position.
- [What happens while a file uploads, and how do I cancel it?](https://www.pactto.com/help/upload-progress.md): Each new file appears on the canvas right away with a Loading indicator and percentage; hover over the indicator and click Cancel to stop the upload.
- [Which file types can I upload, and how large can they be?](https://www.pactto.com/help/supported-file-types.md): You can upload videos, images, and PDFs; each file can be up to 5 GB, or less if your plan sets a lower per-file limit.

## Canvas

- [Add and format text on the canvas](https://www.pactto.com/help/add-text.md): Press T (or click Text), click on the canvas and type; select the text to change its font, size, alignment, bold, italic, underline, strikethrough, bullet list or link from the bar above it.
- [Add or edit a link in text or a sticky note](https://www.pactto.com/help/add-links-to-text.md): Select the text (or sticky note), click the Link button in its formatting bar, type or paste the URL, and press Enter; clear the URL and press Enter to remove the link.
- [Add, format and resize sticky notes](https://www.pactto.com/help/sticky-notes.md): Press N (or click Sticky note) to drop a yellow sticky note in the middle of your view, type right away, then select it to change its font, size and style or drag its corners to resize it.
- [Download files from the canvas, one at a time or all at once](https://www.pactto.com/help/download-assets.md): Select a file and click Download in its title bar, or right-click a selection, a board, or the empty canvas to download many images, videos, and PDFs at once.
- [Draw freehand on the canvas](https://www.pactto.com/help/draw-on-canvas.md): Click Draw (P) in the toolbar, pick a color and pen thickness from the menu that opens, and draw on the canvas; press E for the eraser.
- [Draw rectangles, circles, arrows and lines](https://www.pactto.com/help/shapes-and-arrows.md): Pick Rectangle (R), Circle (O), Arrow (A) or Line (L) and drag on the canvas; select an arrow or line to change its color, opacity and thickness, or a rectangle or circle to change its line thickness and the text inside it.
- [Export the canvas, a board, or a selection as PNG or PDF](https://www.pactto.com/help/export-canvas.md): Right-click an empty area of the canvas and choose Export canvas, then PNG or PDF; select a board or items first to export just those.
- [Point at things with the laser pointer](https://www.pactto.com/help/laser-pointer.md): Press Q (or click Laser) and drag on the canvas to leave a temporary trail that everyone sees and that fades after about a second, without adding anything to the canvas.
- [Rename, crop, download or act on a file on the canvas](https://www.pactto.com/help/asset-toolbar.md): Select an image, video, PDF or link and a bar appears above it with its name (double-click to rename) and buttons such as Enter focus mode, Replace image, Crop image, Ask AI about this asset, Download and status.
- [See where other people are on the canvas](https://www.pactto.com/help/see-other-cursors.md): Each person in the room shows up on the canvas as a cursor with their photo (or initials) and first name, so you can see what they are pointing at in real time.
- [Select several items at once](https://www.pactto.com/help/select-multiple-items.md): Drag a box over the canvas, Shift-click items, or Shift-click a range inside a board, then use the buttons that appear above the selection to convert, tidy, move, download or set status for all of them.
- [Select, move, resize, duplicate and delete items on the canvas](https://www.pactto.com/help/select-move-resize.md): Use the Select tool (V) to click an item, then drag it to move, drag its corners to resize, and use the right-click menu or shortcuts to copy, duplicate, group, lock, reorder or delete it.
- [Undo or redo a change on the canvas](https://www.pactto.com/help/undo-redo.md): Press Cmd/Ctrl + Z to undo your last change on the canvas and Cmd/Ctrl + Shift + Z to redo it.
- [View, page through, split, and merge PDFs](https://www.pactto.com/help/work-with-pdfs.md): Select a PDF to get page controls (or use the arrow keys); use Split pages to images or Split to PDF pages to break it into pages, and Merge board into PDF to combine a board into one file.
- [What does each tool in the canvas toolbar do?](https://www.pactto.com/help/canvas-toolbar.md): The toolbar in the top bar of the room holds the canvas tools (Pan, Select, Laser, Comment, Draw, Text, shapes, Sticky note, Doc, Table, Board and Add asset), and each one has a single-key shortcut.
- [Where do new files appear on the canvas, and at what size?](https://www.pactto.com/help/asset-placement-and-size.md): New images and videos are placed in a free spot near the middle of your view without covering other items, shrunk to fit within 800 by 480 pixels if they are larger, and the view moves to show them.
- [Zoom in, zoom out and move around the canvas](https://www.pactto.com/help/zoom-and-navigate.md): Use the Zoom - and Zoom + buttons, the zoom menu (click the percentage) or Shift + 1 to fit everything on screen, pan with the Pan tool (H), a trackpad or Space + drag, and use the minimap in the bottom-left corner to jump to any area.

- [Arrange items inside a board](https://www.pactto.com/help/board-layout.md): Select a board and open its layout menu to choose Freeform, Vertical, Horizontal or Grid; managed layouts line items up, resize the board to fit, and let you drag to reorder and adjust spacing.
- [Collapse or expand a board](https://www.pactto.com/help/collapse-board.md): Click the chevron to the left of a board's name (Collapse board) to shrink it to a single bar with its name and item count; click it again (Expand board) to restore it.
- [Create a board and add items to it](https://www.pactto.com/help/boards.md): A board is a named container on the room canvas that groups items; draw one with the Board tool (B) or select items and choose Convert to Board, then drag or drop items into it.
- [Focus on one item or board](https://www.pactto.com/help/focus-mode.md): Select an item or board and click Enter focus mode to show only that item, full size; press Escape or click Exit focus mode to go back to the canvas.
- [Follow a screen share when one or more people present](https://www.pactto.com/help/multiple-presenters.md): When someone shares their screen you are asked Follow {name}'s screen share?; click Follow, or click their camera tile with the yellow Presenting badge, to view their screen full size. Several people can share at once.
- [Group a board by review status](https://www.pactto.com/help/group-by-status.md): In a board's layout menu choose Group by Status, then Horizontal or Vertical; items are sorted into Draft, In progress, Needs review, Needs changes and Approved, and dragging an item to another column changes its status.
- [Play videos and keep them in sync for everyone](https://www.pactto.com/help/video-playback.md): Click the round play button on a video or select it to use the controls (timeline, Play, speed, volume, time format); during Spotlight, play, pause and seeking are shared by everyone in the session.
- [Present in a room](https://www.pactto.com/help/present.md): Add your assets, put them in a board, select the board and click the play button (Enter presentation mode); turn on Spotlight so everyone in the room follows your slides.
- [Spotlight your view so others follow you](https://www.pactto.com/help/spotlight.md): Click Spotlight me in the header (or press X) and confirm Become spotlight; others are invited to follow your view and their canvas moves with yours until you stop.
- [Tidy up items into a neat grid](https://www.pactto.com/help/tidy-up.md): Select three or more items on the canvas (or right-click a Freeform board) and choose Tidy up to line them up in an evenly spaced grid; then drag the spacing handles or dots to adjust.
- [Use boards and presentations on a phone](https://www.pactto.com/help/boards-on-phone.md): On a phone the canvas is view-first: you can pan, select, use the laser, comment, open items in focus mode, play videos and follow a presenter, but you cannot draw boards, add assets, share your screen or start Spotlight.
- [Zoom in on an item in focus mode](https://www.pactto.com/help/focus-zoom.md): In focus mode, hold Cmd (Ctrl on Windows) and scroll, or pinch on a touch screen, to zoom into an image, PDF, video or screen share; drag to move around and click Reset zoom to go back.

- [Comment on a video frame, a video range, or a PDF page](https://www.pactto.com/help/comments-video-pdf.md): With the Comment tool on, click a video's frame or timeline for a frame comment, drag along the timeline for a time range, or click a PDF to comment on the page you are viewing.
- [Leave feedback with comments](https://www.pactto.com/help/comments.md): Click the Comment tool (or press K), then click an item or an empty spot on the canvas, type your feedback, and press Enter to post it.
- [Read the transcript and live captions of a meeting](https://www.pactto.com/help/transcripts.md): Pactto transcribes what each person says while their microphone is on; open the Live captions panel (the CC button at the bottom right of the room) to read the transcript, translate it, or show captions on screen.
